Professional Fixture Installation Services (Faucets, Sinks, Showers, Toilets)

What is fixture installation (faucets, sinks, toilets & showers) and when do you need it?

Fixture installation covers faucets, sinks, showers, tubs and toilets, and Avanté Plumbing installs all of them across Sonoma and Marin County. Most fixture problems we get called back to are not faulty products — they are installation shortcuts. A faucet mounted without the right supply connections, a sink drain fitted without the correct trap arm slope, a shower valve set at the wrong depth in the wall, or a toilet reseated on a compressed old wax ring will all work for a while and then leak somewhere expensive. We fit fixtures you have bought yourself as readily as ones we supply, check the shut-off valves and supply lines while access is open, and pressure test before leaving. On older Sonoma County homes, seized shut-off valves are the usual surprise and are worth replacing while the wall is open. CSLB licence #841938, C-36 Plumbing.

Can I install a new faucet myself or do I need a plumber?

A straightforward like-for-like faucet swap on accessible supply stops is within reach for many people. It stops being simple when the shut-off valves are seized or weeping, when the supply lines are corroded, when the sink or counter needs modification, or when the new fixture has a different hole configuration. Old, stiff angle stops are the usual reason a quick swap turns into a call.

Why do shower valves need a specialty cartridge sometimes?

Because cartridges are brand and model specific, and a dripping shower is far more often a worn cartridge than a worn valve body. Matching the correct cartridge to the existing valve is what makes the difference between a repair and cutting into the wall to replace the whole valve. Identifying the valve correctly is most of the job.

Do fixture replacements need a permit?

A straight like-for-like fixture swap generally does not, but altering or extending the supply or drain piping does — and in Corte Madera and Belvedere, certain fixture and water meter changes are themselves listed triggers for the Sanitary District No. 2 lateral inspection ordinance. Worth checking the local rule before assuming a swap is invisible to the district.
