Can I install a new faucet myself or do I need a plumber?
A straightforward like-for-like faucet swap on accessible supply stops is within reach for many people. It stops being simple when the shut-off valves are seized or weeping, when the supply lines are corroded, when the sink or counter needs modification, or when the new fixture has a different hole configuration. Old, stiff angle stops are the usual reason a quick swap turns into a call.
Why do shower valves need a specialty cartridge sometimes?

Worth checking the local rule before assuming a swap is invisible to the district.
