Professional Toilet Repair & Replacement Services

What is toilet repair & replacement and when do you need it?

Toilet repair and replacement is straightforward work, and the useful question is which of the two you actually need. Avanté Plumbing handles both across Santa Rosa, Sonoma and Marin County. A toilet that runs constantly, rocks slightly, will not flush fully, or refills on its own is almost always a repair — a flapper, fill valve, flush valve or wax ring, none of which requires a new toilet. Replacement is the honest answer when the porcelain itself is cracked, when the bowl leaks at the base after the wax ring has already been redone, or when you are upgrading for water efficiency, comfort height or a remodel. A toilet quietly refilling by itself can waste more water than every dripping tap in the house combined, so it is worth fixing early. We diagnose before quoting. Common questions

Toilet Repair & Replacement FAQs

How do I know if my toilet needs to be repaired or replaced?

If you're facing frequent leaks or clogs, or if your toilet is constantly running, it might be best to consult a professional. Our team can assess your toilet and advise whether a repair or replacement is most cost-effective.

What brands of toilets do you work with?

We have experience working with all major toilet brands. Whether it's Kohler, American Standard, Toto, or another trusted manufacturer, we're equipped to fix or replace them efficiently.

How much will it cost to repair or replace my toilet?

The cost can vary depending on the issue and the toilet model. However, at Avante Plumbing, we provide upfront pricing with no hidden fees to ensure you know exactly what to expect.

Should I repair or replace a toilet?

Most toilet faults are repairs. A running toilet, a weak flush, a leak at the base or a failed fill valve are usually a flapper, fill valve, flush valve or wax ring. Replacement makes sense when the bowl or tank is cracked, when the fixture is old enough that water use is the issue, or when repairs are stacking up on a unit that owes you nothing.

Why is water pooling around the base of my toilet?

Most often a failed wax ring, which is the seal between the toilet base and the flange. It can also be a cracked bowl, condensation on the tank in humid weather, or loose closet bolts letting the fixture rock. Rocking is worth attending to quickly, because movement is what breaks the seal in the first place and the water goes into the subfloor.

What does a plumber check before replacing a toilet?

The rough-in distance from wall to flange bolts, the condition of the flange itself, and whether the floor under the fixture is sound. A flange sitting below finished floor level or a soft subfloor from a long-running leak both change the job — and both are more common than people expect on an older house where the fixture has been leaking quietly.
